Alcohol use and non-use by college students has shifted dramatically over the past two decades.Contrary to popular belief, fewer students are drinking.However, a minority of students who do choose to drink are reportedly doing so in higher-risk ways.

The data in this report was collected from 680,201 students across 375 colleges and universities and provides foundational support for prevention efforts that move beyond a singular focus on mitigating the effects of high-risk drinking to one with agreater emphasis on promoting a holistic wellness vision for campuses and their students.

Insights reinforce the inherent connections between alcohol and other drug misuse and multiple disciplines of mental health, diversity and inclusion, and sexual and gender-based violence.
